OUR TIDY HOME
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026 Version 2026-10-13-standard3
Our Tidy Home uses verified customer accounts to operate the service. We also retain previous contact registrations and their original consent records where needed. We collect only what is needed to operate the service and manage those records. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the operator of Our Tidy Home (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles personal information through ourtidyhome.com, customer accounts, subscriptions and the shared household web app. Our privacy contact is admin@ourtidyhome.com.
2. Information we collect
- Previous contact registrations: your email address, optional first name, registration date, consent timestamp and the versions of the Terms and Privacy Policy presented at registration. Earlier registrations may contain historical registration preferences. We retain the original consent records without inventing or backdating consent.
- Customer accounts: verified email address, authentication identifier, account creation date, accepted Terms version and household membership. Supabase handles sign-in links, sessions and authentication security records. Creating an account does not itself take payment or subscribe you to marketing.
- Messages you send us: your contact details and the information you include in support or privacy enquiries.
- Technical and security information: hosting providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages and security logs to deliver and protect the website. Our registration form uses a short-lived, hashed IP-and-time identifier to limit abuse.
- Shared household content: room names, cleaning tasks, completion history, household profiles, points, reward preferences, optional photos and optional feedback or ratings. This content is associated with your household and is shared with its authorised members.
An email address is necessary to create and sign in to your account. You can browse the homepage without registering. Please do not submit sensitive personal details, photographs of other people without permission, or another person’s email address.
3. How we use information
We use account and registration information to manage customer access and maintain accurate service and consent records. We use service information to provide the app, resolve enquiries, prevent misuse, maintain security and meet applicable legal obligations. We will seek any further permission required before using your information for an unrelated purpose.
When owner email alerts are enabled, an alert tells the operator that someone registered and links to the private dashboard. Customer names and email addresses are deliberately excluded from those alerts.
4. Emails and your choices
We send emails needed to operate your account, such as secure sign-in links and service or billing notices. Creating an account does not subscribe you to marketing. Previous email permissions remain limited to the purpose agreed at the time; we do not treat them as permission for a general advertising newsletter. You can withdraw optional email permission by contacting us. If you have a private registration-removal link, you can use it to remove the associated contact registration. We may verify ownership of your email before changing or disclosing information.
Owner alerts are separate from customer emails. Previous registration confirmations include a private removal link; those confirmations do not verify an account or start a subscription. Delivery may be delayed if the email provider is unavailable. We preserve original consent records where needed.
5. Who Can Access Your Information
Your privacy is important to us. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised personnel and trusted service providers who help operate OurTidyHome.
We use third-party services to support website hosting, secure data storage, account authentication, email communications and subscription payments. These providers process information only as necessary to deliver their respective services.
Some information may be securely processed or stored outside New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
If you choose to share a household with another member, they may access shared tasks, photos, activity history and other household content within the app.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or make private household information publicly available.
6. Cookies and device storage
We have not added advertising cookies or behavioural analytics tools. Hosting and sign-in providers may use cookies or similar technology for security and authentication. The private app stores local data and cached files on your device for its operation and offline use. Clearing your browser’s storage removes local copies but does not itself remove server records; use your removal link or contact us for those.
7. Retention and security
Deleted rooms and tasks can be recovered for 30 days. Automatic household snapshots cover rooms, tasks, points and history and are available for 30 days. Private backup file copies and expired recovery records are cleaned up during service activity. Photos are not included in these automatic snapshots.
Each account can store up to 10 cleaning photos. New uploads are private to the uploader unless they choose to share with their household partner. Existing household photos retain their current sharing setting. Photos do not automatically expire after a set number of days. They remain until you delete them or request account removal. Deleting or replacing a photo removes its active database reference and initiates deletion of the stored file; failed file deletions are queued for retry. Incomplete uploads are cleaned up automatically during service activity. Account-removal requests remove your photo records and initiate file deletion, with remaining account and billing removal handled through support. Copies in downloaded backups remain under the control of whoever downloaded them.
We keep account and household information while needed to provide the service, resolve enquiries and meet applicable obligations. We review previous contact registrations and remove information no longer needed. You can contact us to request removal. Private removal links delete the associated active registration and queued alert and confirmation records and associated registration preferences. Pending confirmation content is kept privately until sent; after acceptance, the queued message and recipient copy are cleared while delivery status remains. Backups, security logs and email-provider delivery records may remain for the providers’ normal retention periods or where legally necessary.
We use HTTPS and restrict access to customer records. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. We will respond to security incidents and notify affected people or authorities where required by applicable law.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy or correction, withdraw your email-update permission, or request deletion. Contact our privacy email with enough information to identify your registration. We may verify your identity before responding. Rights, response deadlines and lawful exceptions depend on the laws that apply to you. If you are dissatisfied, you can contact the relevant privacy or data-protection regulator.
9. Adults and shared households
Our Tidy Home is designed for adults aged 18 and over. We do not intentionally seek registrations from children. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information. Authorised household members may see the content you choose to share; obtain permission before uploading someone else’s information or images.
10. Changes
We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Where a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide an appropriate notice and obtain further permission where required. We will describe any new processing practices before introducing them.
